Ayi Kwei Armah born 28 October, 1939 in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghanais. He is a Ghanaian writer. Best known for his novels, including The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born and and The Healers. He has also written several Poetry, Short stories and Books for Children.

Armah attended the Prince of Wales’s College now better known as Achimota School there he won a scholarship to study in the United States, He attended Groton School in Groton and after graduating he entered Harvard University, where he majored a degree in Sociology. He then moved to Algeria and worked as a translator for the magazine Révolution Africaine.

Among his publications are Okyeame (a Ghanaian Magazine), and in Harper’s Magazine, The Atlantic Monthly just to mention but a few.
