Christoffel Hendrik Wiese is a South African billionaire, born on September 10, 1941. He attended Paarl Boys’ High School in the Western Cape region and later graduated from Stellenbosch University with a BA and LLB degrees. He practiced law at the Cape Bar for some years before working as a Director at Pepkor. While at Pepkor, Shoprite kicked off as a super market in Cape Town which was purchased for 1 million Rand and later grew into a multibillion-dollar business due to various acquisitions and expansion strategies made in the first 30 years of operations.

Christoffel Wiese’s Shoprite were considered to be the sixth overall favourite brand as of 2011 in South Africa. He has also brought back to life a South African farm dating back from the 19th century and converted it into a five-star hotel, Lanzerac Manor & Winery, with 48 rooms but later sold it. He is married with three children and is worth 5.8 billion USD (in 2017) according to reports by Forbes.
