Folorunsho Alakija was born in 1951 in Ikorodu Lagos state to the family of Chief L. A. Ogbara. She is a Nigerian billionaire and is one of the richest woman in Africa. She attended a four-year primary education at Dinorben School for Girls in Hafodunos Hall in Llangernyw, Wales and her high school at Muslim High School Sagamu Ogun State, Nigeria. After her high school, she had her secretarial studies at Pitman’s Central College, London, also went ahead to study fashion design at the American College, London and the Central School of Fashion.

In November 1976, she married a lawyer, Modupe Alakija. Folorunsho is the group managing director of The Rose of Sharon Group which consists of The Rose of Sharon Prints & Promotions Limited and Digital Reality Prints Limited and the executive vice-chairman of Famfa Oil Limited. Hher business is centered around fashion, oil and printing industries. She is the richest woman in Nigeria with a net worth of 1.59 billion USD in 2017 according to Forbes.
