John Dramani Mahama Biography – Age

The former president of Ghana from 24 July 2012 to 7 January 2017, John Dramani Mahama was born on 29 November 1958 in Damongo in the Damango-Daboya constituency of Northern region to Emmanuel Adama Mahama, a wealthy rice farmer and teacher.

Prior to being the president John served as the vice president, he was the first vice president to have ascended to the presidency due to the death of his predecessor, John Atta Mills. After his first full tenure as president in which he was elected in December 2012, he contested in the 2016 election for a second term, but was defeated in the first round by New Patriotic Party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo, whom he had defeated four years prior. His wife’s name is Lordina Mahama.


Honours and Awards 
Honorary doctorate in the field of Public Administration, from the Ekiti State University of Nigeria.
The General Council of Assemblies of God, Ghana honoured Mahama with its “Daniel Award “.
The Graduate School of Governance and Leadership – awarded him the African Servant Leadership Award
Institute of Public Relations recognized Mahama with a prize for his leadership acumen and technocratic flair.
