Joshua Emmanuel “Josh” Akognon was born on 10 February, 1986. He is an Nigerian-American Professional Basketball player. He played for Henan of the Chinese National Basketball League (NBL). Akognon was part of the Nigeria National Basketball team that competed in the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan. He also played at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
While in High School in Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, California, he was a Nominee at McDonald’s All-American Team. He led Casa Grande to the best season in school history in 2003, forming one of the best duos in Northern California basketball history
Joshua during his Education, took California State University, Fullerton-regular-season title, winning the Big West Tournament and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 30 years with a 24–9 record. Akognon was a first team selection at the Shamrock Holiday Classic at St. Mary’s, named Mid Majority Baller of the Week.
Akognon was part of the Nigeria National Basketball team that competed in the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan. He also played at the 2016 Summer Olympics and was one of the team’s leaders with averages of 10.6 points
Among his signings are; Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles of China for the 2013–14 season, 17 February, 2014, he left China and relocated to the United States. He was acquired by the Delaware 87Ers, 18 September, 2014, he signed a contract with the Foshan Dralions on 8 December, 2015, Akognon returned to China, this time with the Jilin Northeast Tigers. On February 2, he signed with Dinamo Sassari of Italy for the rest of the season, On 22 November, he signed with the Lithuanian club Lietuvos rytas
