Sofia Hellqvist Biography – Age, Model, Engagement Ring, Prince Carl Philip

Sofia Kristina Hellqvist now referred to as Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Värmland was born on December 6, 1984. She is the wife of Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland. She is the daughter of Marie Britt Rotman (from Sweden) and a Danish–Swedish father, Erik Oscar Hellqvist. She has two sisters, Sara Hellqvist and Lina Hellqvist.

Sofia was a glamour model and reality television contestant before her marriage to Carl Philip in 2015. At the age of six, she moved to Älvdalen and there she attended Älvdalen Montessori School and Älvdal School. She studied the arts programme at Vansbro Education Centre. When she was 20, she was published in photos in the men’s magazine Slitz wearing only a bikini bottom and a live boa constrictor around her upper body and was later voted Miss Slitz 2004 by readers.

In 2005, she moved to New York to study accounting, specializing in business development, at the Institute of English and Business. She has also studied global ethics, child and youth science, children’s communication and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in theory, and in Swedish practice at Stockholm University. She is also a certified yoga instructor and worked as such in New York.

She also worked part-time as a waitress and glamour model. In 2010, Sofia was one of the co-founders of the Project Playground, a charity that assists underprivileged children in South Africa

After her marriage to the prince in 2015, Sofia gave birth to their first son, Prince Alexander (Duke of Södermanland) on April 19, 2016. She also had her second son Prince Gabriel (Duke of Dalarna) on  August 31, 2017.
