Loyiso Bala is an award winning South African artist, TV presenter and philantropist who is known for his smooth voice and exceptional performances across the globe. He was born on September 22, 1979 in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, South Africa. He graduated with distinction for a post-graduate diploma at Henley College.

As a teenager, he was classically trained and finished at the top of his class at the prestigious Drakensberg Boys Choir in South Africa. He also received the highest mark in South Africa in the Grade 7 singing examination and at the age of 17, he became the youngest conductor of the South African National Youth Choir.

Loyiso is a member of the Bala Brothers, a Group which consists of three brothers Zwai Bala, Loyiso Bala, and Phelo Bala. By the end of 2002, he Loyiso embarked on a solo career touring the world from London, America, Asia and the Middle East. He then gained a reputation as South Africa’s king of R&B, with singles such as Girl Without A Name and Gimme The Night.

He has grown so popular in South Africa and beyond and has received numerous  awards ranging from 5 South African Music Awards – SAMAs, 3 Metro FM Awards, a South African Film and TV Award- SAFTA for Best Musical Score. He was also voted in as You Magazine’s sexiest man, GQ’s most stylish man and Mens Health’s best man.

Loyiso has performed alonsgide top artists like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, John Legend, Elton John, Will Smith, Akon and a host others. He was among the few local artists chosen to perform alongside Alicia Keys, Shakira, the Black Eyed Peas and John Legend at the FIFA World Cup Kick-Off celebration concert, which took place at Soweto’s 30,000-capacity Orlando Stadium on the 10th of June 2010. Loyiso also produced and co-wrote Idols Season VI.

In 2013, Loyiso was appointed UNAids National Goodwill Ambassador. He is also an ambassador for Nelson Mandela’s 46664 brand, the Smile Foundation, Afrika Tikkun, Cotlands and the South African Field Band Foundation. In 2015, Loyiso won his first South African Music Awards since 2010, his third SAMA since his first in 1999 when he won the award for Best Faith Album for his release Power Love Sound

His albums include: Love Complete, Kingdom Come, Power Love Sound, Strome van Seën, Full Circle and Blow Your Mind. Loyiso is he host of a TV Program “Called to Worship” and he also hosts a weekly Christian radio show “The Open Book” on Cliff Central.

He got married to publicist Jennifer Odjidja in 2011 and they are expecting a new baby.
