Samthing Soweto

Samthing Soweto whose real name is Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba is as South African Singer and Songwriter. He was born January 21, 1988 in Soweto, South Africa. He became popular from his feature on record producer, Sun-El Musician’s acclaimed song “Akanamali”, released in 2017.

He left school in grade-eight as he had issues of reading and writing.  At the age of 15, he was sent to a youth detention centre for armed robbery and there, he started making music full-time which eventually helped him break out of the life of crime and drug addiction.

After being released from the youth detention centre, Samthing Soweto returned to school and began taking interest to a school choir.  While attending the choir’s performance, he was moved to start a group ,The Soil, which sings Acapella.

After the formation of The Soil, the group met the head of the entertainment company, Sipho Sithole who signed them to his label. After their first project, Samthing began learning how to produce music and released his debut solo studio album, This N That Without Tempo.

Later, left The Soil and also started making music with another band, The Fridge which is a nu jazz group. The Fridge disbanded in 2015 due to the relocation of two members of the band (Thusi and Ade).

In 2019, He released his second album titled Isphithiphithi which is a fusion of Afro pop, amapiano and R&B. The composer has garnered more than 140,000 Instagram followers.
