Medhi Benatia has his full name as Medhi Amine El Mouttaqi. Benatia was born 17 April 1987 and raised up in Courcouronnes, France to a Moroccan father and an Algerian mother.

Medhi represented his father’s country, Morocco at international level. He made his international debut for them in 2008 and represented the nation at four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
