Early Years
Before she came into the spotlight, she had a life, and let’s take a look at it. Chef Nti studied auditing
for 12 months and later marketing. Then she moved to head South African Airways’ corporate social investment. This didn’t go well with her, because she doesn’t like the 9 to 5 job, which led her to start up Era Clean, a facilities management business. This particular company of hers was among the top seven suppliers that helped clean the Johannesburg precinct during the 2010 Soccer World Cup. While on this, she opened three Bello Couture clothing stores (three popular retail stores – the biggest in Melrose Arch) in Johannesburg since she has a love for fashion. These businesses ran for a while and began to crash, then in 2014, she decided to close the two businesses and sold everything with a plan to move to Los Angeles and start afresh as a chef. She sold both her swanky Hyde Park home and cars.

She used the money realized from the sales to put herself through chef school. Her career as a professional chef started in 2015 after she studied at the International Hotel School in Sunninghill. This is what she has to say during these tough times;
“Food was the only thing that I loved that I had left. So I was hanging on for dear life, hoping it will work.
“I cut off all the noises in my life and focused. I remember I was listening to a lot of motivational talks and scriptures.”
“I used to stay with my grandmother. It was a big house and my home was a typical home in the township where everyone goes to when they are hungry,” she says.
“That’s the one thing I want to keep about my grandmother – she was very generous. She loved people and she knew how to express her love through cooking.”

Apart from her career as a chef, she’s also the host of the Perfect Ace – a cooking show on eTV that celebrates everyday South African meals.
