Maurice Kirya was born on 4 November 1984. He is a Ugandan multiple award winning musician and an actor who won RFI’s 2010 Discoveries Music Award. The award came with prize money plus a grant worth 18,000 euros to develop his career. In his career, Maurice has staged performances in Paris plus a year-long tour of Africa where he toured over 35 countries.

Kirya’s style of music is “Mwooyo”, a Luganda word for soul. Other awards he was won are; RFI Award (France), E-World Music Awards (LA), Museke Music Awards (New York), KORA Award, KISIMA Awards (Kenya) and PAM awards (Uganda).
