Naima Mclean is a South African singer, writer and poet known as the The First Lady of Urban Soul. She was born to Rene Mclean and Jackie Mclean (world renowned multi-reed instrumentalists) as their daughter and grand-daughter in New York City and raised in different cities across South Africa by her American father and South African mother.

Naima graduated from University of Cape Town with a degree in performing arts and gender studies and made her debut at Cape Town Jazz Festival in 2011. She have performed at several gatherings and occasions such as Nelson Mandela Sports and Cultural Day at Soccer City stadium, European Tours to Glasgow and as a poet at Farewell Gala Dinner for Head of UN Women – Phumzile Mlambo –Ngcuka, African Development Bank Awards in Rwanda, Rockefeller Foundation Launch for Impact Sourcing and many other places.
