Olusegun (means “The Lord is victorious”) Mathew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo is one of the fathers in the Nigerian politics, he’s best known as the president of Nigeria from 29 May 1999 – 29 May 2007 with his vice Atiku Abubakar and the 5th head of state under the military from 13 February 1976 – 30 September 1979. Born on 5 March 1937 in Abeokuta, Western Region, British Nigeria, now Abeokuta, Ogun, Nigeria, at the age of 21 in 1958, he joined the Nigerian Army. His 6 months Short Service Commission training was at Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot in England, later he was trained in India at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and at the Indian Army School of Engineering.
