Chinny Okparaji was born on June 25. This Imo state born Nollywood actress from Ideato south is a broadcaster turned actress, screen writer and film maker. She was the lead singer of Labyrinth music band and Diamond band at Abuja Sheraton hotel and Transcorp Hilton hotel while she was studying English language/ Literature at University of Abuja. She worked as a journalist with Abuja mirror, African woman magazine, Bridge magazine, and OAP at Vision FM 92.1 before she ventured into television broadcast. She was a National Assembly correspondent presenting Heart of the matter TV show and Changemakers sponsored by Stanbic IBTC Bank on NTA network service and ITV. Chinny’s first shot at acting was Zack Amata’s ‘ Winners & Losers’, a soap opera that aired on NTA in 2012 where she played the lead Dorothy. She went back to broadcasting that same year and became the pioneer Program Manager for People TV Owerri. She returned back to Nollywood in 2014 and has since been active. The movie that made her the favourite of many was her performance in Biaty which she played the lead role so well. Chinny has featured in several other movies such as Sweetie My Love, Inseparable Twins, Kill the Prince, Nmiri Udo to mention a few. Chinny produced ‘Mercedes Onyebekee’ a movie which is meant to campaign for the speaking of Igbo language by Igbos since it is an endangered language. She founded Obigbo Foundation a center for the promotion and preservation of Igbo Language and heritage. She is currently working on an Igbo language musical movie ‘Akuako’. Chinny’s long awaited soap opera ‘ Desperate Lovers is set to hit the screens next quarter. Her hobby is reading, writing and Karaoke. She has acted alongside Fabian Adibe, Zack Orji, Chiwetalu Agu, Joyce Kalu and many others.
