Nomvula Paula Mokonyane was born on June 28, 1963 in the West Rand township of Kagiso, Gauteng as the youngest in a family of 12. She’s the South African Minister of Department of Water and Sanitation since May 25, 2014 under president Jacob Zuma. Nomvula attended Masupatsela High School, Kagiso and began her political career began in the early 1980s as a student activist. For her tertiary education, she attended Sweden, Certificate of Local Government & Provincial Government Law, Wharton Business School, Certificate Course in Emerging Economics.
Mokonyane was a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 27 April 1994 – 25 May 2014. She’s also the 5th Premier of Gauteng from 6 May 2009 – 21 May 2014.
