Rick Famuyiwa was born on 18 June, 1973. He is a Nigerian-American film director, producer and screenwriter. Rick grew up near Los Angeles, California in the City of Inglewood. The son of Nigerian immigrants, Famuyiwa is a first-generation American. After high school, Rick attended the University of Southern California (USC) and double majored in Cinematic Arts Film & Television Production and Cinematic Arts Critical Studies. Famuyiwa is a writer of films as he has written so many firms as listed below.
The Wood was The film was produced by MTV Films and was released on July 16, 1999, Brown Sugar was released on October 11, 2002. Talk to Me was co-written by Famuyiwa with the film’s inspiration’s son, Michael Genet, and close friend Kasi Lemmons ultimately directed the film, Our Family Wedding starring Forest Whitaker, America Ferrera etc both written and directed by Famuyiwa, winning the Best Editing award for the work of editor Lee Haugen, the director of Confirmation, an HBO original movie. In June 2016, Famuyiwa was announced as the director for The Flash after Seth Grahame-Smith dropped from the project, In 2000.
The Black Reel Awards nominated Famuyiwa for Best Director (Theatrical) for his work on The Wood, In 2003, after completing work on Brown Sugar Rick was once again nominated by the NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Motion Picture just to mention but a few.
