Dj Cosmo umupilili real/full name is Cosmas Chileshe, He was born on 23rd December, Cosmas Chileshe Aka DJ Cosmo is a Zambian renowned Radio, Club DJ, musician and songwriter from the town of Kitwe.
Early Life
As the third child in a family of six, he started his career as a musician in 2008, inspired by his best friend Kayo (one of Zambia’s Dancehall heavy weights).
Career
DJ Cosmo already had established himself as a successful club DJ and radio presenter in 2008; He then started his career as a musician by recording his first hit single “Nalelo Bwacha” featuring Kayo. The video to the song, which was played all over Zambia, was nominated for Zambia’s biggest Music Awards, called the ”Born and Bred Awards”.

After a successful year in 2008, He continued recording more songs and also had the chance to collaborate with British Pop artist Kris Coulthard in 2009. Their hit single “Fly” was a mixture of Pop and Dancehall done in English with a splash of (Nyanja) a Zambian language, the unique fusion between Pop and Afro Dancehall, also granted the video a nomination in the “Born and Bred Awards” in 2010. The DJ then started collaborating with several Top Zambian Artists such as ‘Exile, Hamooda, Franciar, Baska and JK.’
He started getting well-known for his energetic live performance on stage, as he had already performed all over Zambia by touring in the whole of 2010 and was one of the Zambian Artists who toured Malawi and shared the stage with Malawian music guru Lucious Banda in 2011. He then performed alongside Zambian Dancehall Veteran (Danny) in South Africa within the same year. Later that year he toured and performed in Austria, which also is the home country of his wife and also added to his international exposure. His also collaborated with some Austrian Artists and shot his video “Kwacha” in Austria, which enjoyed massive airplay from the local TV channels in Zambia. In the same year DJ Cosmo got nominated again at the “Born and Bred Awards” for his hit single’s Video “Koko Ndodo” featuring Franciar, a Zambian female rapper.
Then enter the year 2012, where he recording a good number of new solo projects and collaborated with the likes of JK on “Unani tenga mtima,” DJ Cosmo not only prepared for his debut album, but also made changes to his private life by getting married. Then due to the success of his hit single “Koko Ndodo” he decided to do a remix of the song in 2013 featuring a Zambian ALL Star Line up of ‘Petersen, Kayo, T-Sean, Flexville Marley, Kapepa and Franciar from the original version. Turning out to be as successful as the original and brook boundaries by not only playing all over Zambia but the video became popular on an international level as well. 2013 also marked the release of DJ Cosmo’s Debut album Titled “Point of No Return” and sold 8000 copies within the first month after its release. The response was overwhelming in Zambia and in Austria, where he went back again to promote the album and did very well. After the success of “Point of No Return,” DJ Cosmo started to write more songs in English to attract an international audience, but still remained faithful to his roots by recording Dancehall hits, this is how he came up with the very first successful single of his second Album “THEE STATEMENT,” The song is titled “Sexy Panty” Featuring Zimbabwe’s King of African Dancehall Buffalo Souljah. They then shot the video in South Africa and did very well to get play-listed on Channel O, MTVBase and Trace Africa which boosted his career tremendously.
With the overwhelming response to “Sexy Panty” DJ Cosmo got invited to perform at the Africa Movie Academy Awards nomination party in 2014 which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa at Caesar’s Palace where he shared the stage with big artists like K-Cee from Nigeria. This gave him a lot of exposure to the international audience viewing the event and led to another invitation to the 2014 Namibia Music Awards. His then released his highly anticipated Second single for 2015 titled “She Aah Bomb” featuring Kayo with a Banger of a Video which won the Award for Best Music Video of 2015 in Zambia and has earned him a VP Records worldwide distribution Deal under there platform known as VPAL Music. He has also Dropped his Third Hit Single Titled “Wine Yah Body ft. JK in August 2015 and Forth Hit Single Pro-Twerker in December 2015, of His Upcoming Second Album “THEE STATEMENT,” Due to drop in 2016, The album will fuse Love songs, With Sexy Dance Songs and Real life issues.
