Delbonzo Biography

  Born Edgar Munkombwe on 13 April 1988, Delbonzo is an RnB musician from
Zambia. He adopted his stage name back then on his first day in studio.
He is the first born in a family of two children. He dropped out of
college owing to financial challenges. He was studying Accounting.  He
draws his inspiration from artists like Justin Timberlake, R. Kelly,
John legend and Chris brown. He began writing songs at the age 21
through influences from Joe Chibangu, Kmillian, Danny, Ozzy and a few
other Zambian artists.

In 2009, he established a music outfit called The Adolescents together
with his friends. They recorded a number of songs. ‘Ndefwayafwe’ is
among the songs that topped charts in Northern Zambia and other parts of
the country. The group disbanded and he decided to go solo. In 2012, he
released his debut single ‘Waya’. It featured Sunga Man and was
produced by Tonny Breezy.

In 2013, he met P-Jay while at a concert in Lusaka city. P-Jay asked
Delbonzo to feature on one of his songs. Together, the duo wrote lyrics
and released a song called ‘Niwe’. The track was well-received and
turned out to be a hit.

Thereafter, he signed under Moz Mix Studios in Kitwe where he met
artists like Shimpanzi Marky II, Afunika and Tonny Breezy. This was
followed by the release of a single taken from his first album titled
‘Efyo Naya’. The song featured Chimpanzi. The album was never released
when the studio closed thus terminating his contract.

In 2014, he recorded ‘Wife Material’. The single was released in 2015.
