Amma Asante is a talented British former actress, screenwriter and film director. Born on September 13, 1969 in London to Ghanaian parents (her father was an accountant while her mother ran a deli). She began her acting career as a child and was trained in dancing and drama at Barbara Speake stage school in Acton, London. Among the movies Asante has featured in are; A way of Life, Belle, A United Kingdom and many others. She was previously married to producer Charlie Hanson. She is now married to Soren Pedersen, spokesman for European police in the Hague.
