Edgar Chagwa Lungu is the president of Zambia after defeating the opposition candidate Hakainde Hichilema in the January 2015 presidential elections. He was born on November 11, 1956 and in 1981 he graduated from University of Zambia with a degree in Law (LL.B).

Edgar underwent military officer training in Kabwe under Zambia National Service (ZNS) before finally joining politics. He won the elections under the party Patriotic Front. He is married to Esther Lungu and they are blessed with six children.
