Barbara Kanam Biography – Age

Born on September 27, 1973 in Bukavu, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), Barbara Kanam is an award-winning Congolese singer-songwriter, music producer and actress. Also known as African Diva, she started to become more involved in music in 1991, when she earned a Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (“Advanced Specialist”) degree in international business.

Barbara took her career to a more professional level by attending prestigious Psalmody Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, and concurrently received guitar lessons. She has been to many places, back in 1995, she settled in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, where she experimented musically by joining a religious choir. Her first album was released in 1998 titled Mokili, with producer Kone Dodo and the second album was titled Téti (2004).
