Ibukun Awosika Biography – Age, Husband, Awards

Ibukun Abiodun Awosika  is a Nigerian business magnate, author and motivational speaker who was born on December 24, 1962 in Ibadan, Oyo State. She graduated with a B.Sc in Chemistry and also holds post graduate and MBA certificates upon the completion of several business programmes at the Lagos Business School and IESE Business School. She is married to Abiodun Awosika with three children.

Ibukun worked as an audit trainee at Akintola Williams & Co during her National Youth Service Corps service and afterwards she left for Alibert Nigeria Ltd. as showroom manager.
In 1989, she established a furniture manufacturing company called Quebees Limited before it evolved into The Chair Centre Limited and later SOKOA Chair Centre Limited following a venture merge with SOKOA S.A and Guaranty Trust Bank in 2004.

 This inspiring and elegant woman belongs to some boards and organisations such as :

  1.  Nigerian Economic Summit Group (Member)
  2.  Nigerian Sovereign Wealth Fund (Member) 
  3.  Board of Trustees of Women in Management, Business and Public (Chairman) 

In 2011, she co-founded the Afterschool Graduate Development Centre, a career centre established in order to checkmate the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria.
In September, 2015, she became the Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria and is known to be the first woman to acquire that position.

Apart from being a business woman, Ibukun is also a TV presenter and an Author. As a presenter, she host a TV programme titled “Business His Way”. She has also published books which includes:

  • The “Girl” Entrepreneurs
  • Business His Way
  • She has also won several Awards like:
    1. FATE Model Entrepreneur Award of The Year (2006).
    2. Golden Heart Award (2007)
    3. International Women Entrepreneurial Challenge Award (2008).
