Rachel Meghan Markle is an American actress and humanitarian campaigner born August 4, 1981 to Doria Loyce Ragland, a social worker and yoga instructor who lives in View Park–Windsor Hills, California Thomas Wayne Markle, who lives in Mexico. A graduate from Northwestern University with a degree in theater and international studies in 2003.  Her parents divorced in 1988 when she was six years old. She has two older paternal half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr and Samantha Grant.

Meghan worked as a freelance calligrapher to support herself between early acting jobs. Her first appearance on screen was in the background of an episode of the daytime soap opera General Hospital. During her early days as an actress, she played small guest roles on the television shows like Century City (2004), The War at Home (2006), and CSI: NY (2006). She also took on several contract acting and modeling jobs that included a stint as a “briefcase girl” on the US game show Deal or No Deal. She appeared in Fox’s series Fringe as Junior Agent Amy Jessup in the first two episodes of its second season.

She portrayed Rachel Zane on the legal drama series “Suits” for seven seasons from 2011. Prior to her role in Suits, Meghan had small roles in several United States television series. She featured in  Remember Me and Horrible Bosses.

From 2014 to 2017, Meghan was founder and editor-in-chief of lifestyle website “The Tig”. In November 2016, she released a line of women’s fashion workwear with Canadian clothing company Reitmans. Also in 2014, she traveled to Afghanistan and Spain as part of the USO Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of , traveling to Rwanda for the Clean Water Campaign, the agency’s campaign to provide safe, clean drinking water. She was also was a counsellor for international charity One Young World. In 2016. Meghan became a global ambassador for World Vision Canada and she traveled to India to raise awareness of issues concerning women. She has also worked with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women as an Advocate. Meghan was formerly married to Trevor Engelson in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on September 10, 2011 but they divorced in August 2013. She later became engaged to Prince Harry, a member of the British royal family and they got married on May 19, 2018 at Windsor Castle.
