Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who is the current Governor of Rivers State. He was born on December 13, 1967 to Rev and Mrs Nlemanya Wike of Ikwerre from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State. He is a graduate of Rivers State University of Science and Technology with degrees in Political and Administrative Studies as well as Law.

Wike is a member of the People’s Democratic Party. After his law school, he ventured into politics starting off as a Local Government Chairman of Obio-Akpor LGA of Rivers State. He was later appointed Minister of State for Education on 14 July 2011. Wike later became appointed as the Acting Minister of Education, after Mrs Riqqayatu was sacked but resigned before finishing his term to campaign for Governor of Rivers State.

In 2014, he won the Rivers State People’s Democratic Party primary and chose former Secretary to the State Government Ipalibo Banigo as his running mate for deputy governor.
He is married to Eberech Wike and the couple is blessed with 3 children.
