José Mário Vaz aka “Jomav,” is well known as the president of Guinea-Bissau, an office he assumed on 23 June 2014. He was born on December 10, 1957 to Mário Vaz and Amelia Gomes in Calequisse and had his tertiary education at Lisbon where he graduated as an economist in the early 1980s.

He won the sit of the presidency under the political party African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde. His wife’s name is Rosa Teixeira Goudiaby.
