Born April 11, 1980 in Argungu local government(hausa/fulani), Aisha Augie Kuta is an award wining photographer and film maker from Kebbi state in northern Nigeria. She’s from a well to do family, being the daughter of Late Senator Adamu Baba Augie (politician/broadcaster), and Justice Amina Adamu Augie (JCA), she developed interest in photography from a young age.
Augie-Kuta studied Mass Communication at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria for her undergraduate [1] and is studying for an MSc in Media and communication at the Pan African University, Lagos (Now Pan Atlantic University). She also attended Digital Filmmaking from The New York Film academy and also have a Certificate in curating contemporary art exhibitions from the Chelsea College of art and design, London, UK.
Awards
won the british council ‘Through-my-eyes’ competition 2014.
She received a Sisterhood Award for ‘photographer of the year’also in 2014.
In 2010, she was included along with 50 Nigerian women in a coffee table book and exhibition for the nation’s 50 @ 50 celebrations supported by Women for Change initiative.
Aisha won the 2011 Creative Artist of the year at The Future Awards.
She was nominated for 2011 Female photographer of the year at ELOY Awards; She was also nominated twice for the Abuja Young Entrepreneurs award for Media and Art (2012 and 2013).

The inteliigent photographer became an Associate for the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI) in May 2011. Aisha is also the Vice-President, Women in Film and television in Nigeria (Wiftin) the West African chapter of the US based network. She co-founded The Photowagon, a Nigerian photography collective, in 2009. She is married with three children(all boys).
