Singer/Songwriter, Composer, Tunesmith, Show-Woman, Style Afficiando,
and Poster Girl for the unfettered possibilities, are but a few words to
describe the force of nature that is Temi
Dollface.Foodand Nutrition was her first degree in the university.
On a one-woman mission to shatter pop stereotypes and to put the drama
back into music, this much-buzzed up-and-comer has already notched up a
cult following for a sound that’s tricky to pigeonhole and has managed
to disarm the purists, skeptics and snobs with her first offering, “Pata
Pata”, its accompanying video and her second offering , “Just Like That
(Story).
Temi dull face was a name given to her by street photographers and her former band mate back then in London, who looks at her and think she looks like dull.
Artistry
Temi dollface’s appeal transcends the usual barriers of gender, age,
and genre. However you like your music, there’s something in it for you.
If you don’t love her for her one-of-a-kind sound, her witty lyricism,
her take-no-prisoners performances, her forward-thinking imagery, then
you’re bound to be seduced by her elegant yet daring style. Temi
dollface’s is something of a creative all-rounder; as well as writing,
composing, producing and performing her own material, she is
self-styled, creative directs her own shoots and makes sets and costumes
for her shows. Her abundant creativity is very much in evidence in her
video “Pata Pata”
“DRAMA SOUL” (THE TDF SOUND)
“Drama Soul” is continent, culture and era bridging
multi-instrumental music that is as intelligent as it is catchy, created
by fusing together seemingly disparate genres, informed by a love of
the theatrical. As an artist, Temidollface pulls from a wide range of
sources. For instance, she often combines jazz chords with catchy pop
hooks, and African percussion to create something that’s simultaneously
fresh and timeless.Obvious reference points for Temidollface’s
flamboyant sound are Afro-Beat, Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, Electro and
R&B; but that doesn’t do justice to the variety of music she
incorporates or to its singularity. “Drama Soul” Invokes both past and
modern luminaries, but matched with her own intrigue and quirk, it is a
breath mint for the pop scene. Drama Soul deliberately evades the
narrow categories of what urban music should sound like, not to mention
that it defies the normal conventions of pop and every other genre it
is derivative of.
