Ian Khama was born on February 27, 1953 in England as the he first-born son and second child of Sir Seretse Khama (1 July 1921 – 13 July 1980), who was the country’s foremost independence leader and President from 1966 to 1980, and Lady Khama. He is well known as the 4th president of Botswana since 2008 till date, but prior to that, he was the vice president from 13 July 1998 – 1 April 2008, and in 2009 he started his full term as president after becoming succesful in the election.

The famous politician in his country also served as Commander of the Botswana Defence Force after his training at England’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Ian is from a wealthy lineage, slthough he was born in England because his father was on exile as a result of the opposition by the colonial government and the emergent apartheid regime in South Africa to his marriage to a white woman.
