The Mozambican singer Neyma Julio Alfredo was born on May 6, 1979 in Maputo. Her career started when she appeared on the Fantasia TV singing competition, in which she took the second place but rose to fame after she released her first album, Brigas in 1999. One of the songs in that album titled “Praia feliz” really touched most parts of Africa.

After about 6 years has passed, in 2005 Neyma released Arromba, her most popular album to date which sold more than 40,000 copies in Mozambique alone and had an outstanding sale internationally.
