Before they coded themselves as Future101, they all started their musical races at different times, Wiyen and De’mao shared their childhood days together as cousins from the same high school to the same collage, and in 2010 they released their first single titled “Gear” produced by Raydo. By then, Angel was a solo artist with a hit single Kilasiku that featured OC and T-boy produced by OC. In early 2011 the trio met at Obama Records and decided to call themselves Obama crew, this was after being signed under Obama Records. Their first single as a group featured Kay figo and Judy-Yo titled Malilo then followed by another song called “Money Na Love”. Under Obama records, the trio performed as backup vocalists to one of Zambia’s legendary musician O’C. They traveled across Zambia, South Africa and Namibia for musical performances.
In the year 2014, the trio dropped out of Obama Records and re branded from Obama crew to Future101. Since then, they have recorded songs that have hit the airwaves in Zambia. In 2015 they got their first nomination is the annual Born and Bred Awards for their video “WhatsApp”. In the same year they got a recognition award from pink diamonds modeling agency.
Future101 got their inspiration from Fally ipupa, P square, Craig David and JK. Their funs refer to them as the kings of afro beats, their music attracts an audience of both the youth and old, they have a magical touch in their music that drives the ladies crazy especially when it comes to stage performances.
Currently future101 have worked with both local and international artist like Kay Figo, Mark 2, Slap D, B1, Dj Cosmo, Ruff Kid, Kekero, Tiye P, Petersen, Judy-yo, Exile, Karasa, T-sean, Jerome JJ(big brother hotshots), Ves-special (Congo DRC), Tygris and Wendy Harrawa (Malawi).
