Career

Neo Nontso started out as a make-up artist, and while at this, she used to travel around the world with the likes of Anele Mdoda and Shekinah as a make-up artist. She decided to make a U-turn in her career to venture into food and its recipes. According to her, her love for cooking and kitchen stuff started when she was a child, according to iol, this is what she has to say;

”Food and family went hand-in-hand when I was a child. In my grandmother’s house, the kitchen was the heart of the home. It was where people would eat, cry, get shouted at, and apologize. If anyone was in trouble, we would deal with it in the kitchen; if someone was happy or had good news, we would hear it in the kitchen. Out of the chaos and the discipline grew my love affair with cooking,”.

In 2018, she began sharing recipes on Instagram but all her efforts started coming to the limelight in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, although she started her Facebook page in 2017. Neo Nontso launched her first cookbook titled @dinewithneo – my Insta Feast. The book was a huge success and this led to her winning an international award. This occurred in May 2023 at Umea Food Symposium, in Sweden. She won the two Gourmand World Cookbook gongs under the categories First Book and Design & Art Work.

You might not know of this, the food entrepreneur has a restaurant that started some years ago. It doesn’t have dine-in, rather it operates as a restaurant on Uber Eats, where customers request food that is delivered.
